Christian Collovà
Ponti - De Sanctis & Partners (Italy)
Christian Collovà is born Germany and grew up in
Paris, France. He moved to Italy where he completed his course of
studies and graduated in law at the University of Rome (Ph.D., with
honors) discussing a dissertation on ”Copyright and the Challenge
of New Technologies”. While at the university he started his
career as a consultant for the music recording industry, advising on
licensing and distribution. After a short experience as assistant in
Sociology at the University of Rome, in 1999 he joined as an
entertainment lawyer Ponti – De Sanctis & Partners Law Firm
in Rome, Italy (formerly the Italian offices of Loeb & Loeb LLP).
Since 2005 he is partner of the firm.
He represents producers and distributors both in Europe and in the
United States and approaches the entertainment industry in a wide,
multi-faceted manner. He specializes in Intellectual Property,
Copyright and Entertainment, Media and New Technologies, advising
international and national clients, in-court and off-court, on a wide
area of practice such as film, television and multimedia financing,
production and distribution, music recording and publishing, trademarks
protection, privacy and data protection, advertising and marketing.
Thanks to a genuine interest into new technologies, he developed a
personal approach to the media convergence in the new landscape of
technology, with special expertise with regards to internet and new
media, cross-media convergence, broadband distribution, digital
broadcasting, wireless applications, telecommunica¬tions, digital
rights management, domain names disputes resolution.
He is President and Co-founder of “Mediajus.net”, an
association aimed to the development of knowledge of the legal aspects
in multimedia and intellectual property related matters, and of
“Qualiacom”, a consulting business in multimedia and new
technologies.
In 2002 and 2003 he participated in the AKMI MEDIA Management Programme
Training Courses, a training initiative with the support of the Media
Programme of the European Commission (Management and Legal Aspect of
Cinema Production Companies - 2002, Management and Legal Aspects of
Television Channels Seminar – 2003). In 2005 he attended the
Global Leadership Training by Argovela Films – Leading your
Coproduction Negotiations.
He co-authored the Italian paper “Overview of the Film Production
and Co-Production Opportunities in Italy” for the Film Business
School in Ronda, Spain, yearly update. He published on “Il
Diritto di Autore”, copyright review of the Italian Copyright
Society S.I.A.E. (Società Italiana Autori ed Editori) and on
“Bollettino della Siae” (“Siae’s
Bulletin”).
He is member of Italian Bar Association, of IBA - International Bar
Association, of ABA - American Bar Association (International
Associate), of I.A.E.L. - International Association of Entertainment
Lawyers, of A.L.A.I. - Association Litéraire et Artistique
Internationale and of the aforementioned Mediajus.net
He is fluent in Italian, English and French, he enjoys speaking also Spanish and Portuguese and some words of Greek.

Christian Collovà è nato in Germania ed
è cresciuto a Parigi, Francia. Si è trasferito in Italia,
dove ha completato il suo corso di studi e si è laureato presso
l’Università di Roma (con lode) con una tesi su “Il
diritto d’autore e la sfida tecnologica”. Negli anni
dell’università, ha iniziato a lavorare come consulente
per l’industria discografica, in materia di licenze e
distribuzione. Dopo una breve esperienza come assistente di Sociologia
all’Università di Roma, nel 1999 è entrato nello
studio legale Ponti – De Sanctis & Partners (già sede
italiana della Loeb & Loeb LLP). Dal 2005 è socio dello
studio.
